Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintHazel Nell Basten, age 95 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Kenosha on November 12, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie (Curphy) Edquist.
On January 26, 1946, she married Albert Basten at St. Mary Catholic Church. Albert passed away on October 24, 2015 after sixty nine years of marriage.
Hazel was employed at K.A.T. for ten years, and Kenosha Unified School’s food service at Lance Jr. High and Jane Vernon Elementary School for thirty years.
She was a life time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Hazel enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, crafts and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joanne (Gene) Boyle of Wadsworth, IL and Sharon (John) Kirsch of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Kerry (Matt) Marcinkus, Kevin (Jenny) Boyle, Greg (Megan) Kirsch, Mary (Chris) Rupp and Ryan (Aubrey) Boyle; seventeen great grandchildren and her sister, Marian (Glen) Rasmussen of Kenosha.
In addition to her parents and husband, Albert, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur, Jr., Russell, Kenneth, John and Robert Edquist; and two sisters-in-law, Delores Edquist and Ann Krogh.
Hazel’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Joseph Nursing Home for the exceptional care for Hazel.
Service Date January 27, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Hazel’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 8760 37th Avenue. Entombment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
