Born on February 16, 1955, she is the daughter of Dwayne and Judith (Staplekamp) Shaufler. She attended The Prairie School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College.
On May 22, 1983, Gretchen was united in marriage to Andrew Moffat at their residence in Bristol, WI.
Gretchen was a professional tennis player spending years playing, teaching and coaching the game. She was a tennis pro alongside her husband at Tennaqua in Deerfield, IL for a great many years before teaching at LifeSport Tennis Clubs for a bit and then many years at College Park Athletic Club in Bannockburn, IL prior to retirement. Her interests and hobbies centered around spending time with family and eventual grandchildren, Wils and Hadley. Nobody was more proud than Gretchen when both Wils and Hadley took up tennis and together they spent countless hours on the tennis court.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Moffat; her daughter, Melinda (Wilbur) Warren IV; her grandchildren, Wilbur Wesley V and Hadley Jud Warren; her father, Dwayne Shaufler and her brother, Judson Shaufler.
Gretchen was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Shaufler.
A private gathering for the family is planned at this time.
