Born in Kenosha, WI on December 12, 1947, to the late Charles and Olga (Karach) Stone, Greg graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He worked for many years at AMC/Chrysler in Kenosha, where he was a dedicated Union supporter and beloved supervisor and colleague.
Coworkers, employees, friends, and family could always count on Greg to have, and share, an opinion on a vast array of topics and interests. Making conversation was always easy with him. An ardent fan of the Packers and Brewers, Greg never paused when prompted to discuss his favorite teams, but, beyond sports, he would speak intelligently and passionately about investing, technology, movies, and, of course, politics.
When not shopping for Christmas lights or hunting treasures at estate sales, Greg loved to fish, play tennis, and sing in choruses and barbershop quartets. He had an outstanding musical ear and could find the harmony to any melody. It was the rare family gathering that did not include Greg breaking out into song, often accompanied by others, a smile upon his face. Singing will not be the only way that his many will remember his voice – his distinctive, uproarious laugh would reverberate throughout any location in which it was shared. And it was shared a lot.
Greg provided joy and warmth for many people, especially his family, which includes his daughters, Adrianne (Paul) Seymour and Amber Stone (Corey Joseph); his step-daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Waite; and his siblings, Dave (Bev) Stone, Steve (Pat) Stone, Mary Andrasko, and Charles Stone (deceased). He will be remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews, and by his grandchildren, Leonardo, Alexander, Jameson, and Eleanora. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years Crescentia (Bartholomay), and is survived by his fiancé, Gail Karabetsos Derringer.
In honor of his memory, a celebration of Greg’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Piasecki Funeral Home in Kenosha. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
