Born in Minot, ND on July 2, 1944, he was the son of the late Paul and Lois (Lunden) Rismoen. He attended schools in Minot, and was a 1962 graduate of Minot High School. Greg received his Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in New York.
Greg honorably served our country in the U. S. Army as an Intelligence Analyst from January 15, 1971 until his honorable discharge on March 23, 1974. He was a proud recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
On June 20, 1977, at First Lutheran Church in Minot, ND, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Ters. He was a devoted husband, they were blessed one daughter, Jennifer, and 38 years of marriage.
Greg settled down with Carolyn in Stockholm, NJ in 1977 and worked for Intercontinental Hotels in New York City. Later, his employment with SPEBSQSA/Barbershop Harmony Society brought him and his family to Kenosha, where he worked as a computer programmer, until he became disabled.
He was known as a kind, gentle, and compassionate man who selflessly devoted himself to his family and work. Greg enjoyed singing with his church choirs in North Dakota, New Jersey and Wisconsin; as well as, reading, genealogy and Sons of Norway.
Greg will always be remembered by his loving wife, Carolyn and their daughter, Jennifer (Fiancé, Thomas Roth); his four sisters, Sally Yoakum, Paula (Dan) Foley, Pama Rismoen and Peri (Jim) Goad; and his sister-in-law, Lois Trivisone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Peter.
Service Date June 27, 2015
Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, 2001-80th Street. Private interment will be held in Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
