She was born in Milwaukee, WI on February 11, 1928 to the late James and Jennie (Swomia) Crowley.
On September 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clyde P. Roethe. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2017.
Gloria and Clyde moved from East Troy to Kenosha in 2009 to be closer to their family.
She dedicated her life to being a homemaker and caring for her children. Gloria enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She was always active, taking daily walks and enjoyed spending time in nature and bird watching.
Gloria loved helping others. She spent many years as part of a sewing circle that would make blankets and children’s clothing for those in need. She also enjoyed volunteering at a nursing home in her previous community.
Gloria leaves behind her sons, Michael (Maria) and Steven (Colleen) Roethe; her grandchildren, Daniel (Erin) and Kelly Roethe; her great grandchildren, Max and Margaret Roethe and her sisters Arlene and Janice.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde of 70 years and her sister, Mildred.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Kenosha for their loving and compassionate care.
A Committal service honoring Gloria’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
