Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintGloria J. Van Thiel, age 75 of Kenosha, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Hospice Alliance, Inc./Hospice House.
Born on March 23, 1941 in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Packard) Zahn.
On October 29, 1960 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Milwaukee, she was united in marriage to Charles Van Thiel, Jr. They made Kenosha their new home. Gloria was a devoted and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Her faith was an important part of Gloria’s life and she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was also a member of the former Alons Women’s Club where Gloria served as president and treasurer. For many years she enjoyed volunteering as a Kenosha poll worker. Gloria was an avid crafter and loved to cook, read her bible and listen to gospel music; especially The Gaithers.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of nearly 56 years, Charles; her son, Drake (Sharon) Van Thiel; four grandchildren, Justin (Marsha) Bloom, Brittany Frederick, Bobbi Jean Canales and Morgan Van Thiel; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Laverne (Tom) Kuenstler; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Van Thiel; a brother, Ray Zahn; and a sister, Geraldine Filo.
Service Date October 14, 2016
Funeral Services honoring Gloria’s life will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Private interment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
