Born on March 21, 1942 in St. Paul, MN, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Myrtle (Holmes) Ostman. He attended local schools and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Bemidji State Teachers College.

On June 29, 1968, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Sharon Greenwood in Wilton, MN. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage together. Sadly, Sharon passed away December 2020.

Gib was serving in the MN Army National Guard when he joined the U.S. Army.  He was a teacher at Bradford High School and Bullen Junior High in Kenosha, a member of the Kenosha Unified School District Board, and also worked as a Kenosha County Bailiff.

He and Sharon loved to watch college and professional football and baseball. They enjoyed taking several trips to Las Vegas and Canada, loved country music and attending Country Thunder.

Gib is survived by his brother, Robert (Helen) Ostman; his grandson, Aaron Kuruc; his great grandson, Jordan Kuruc; his brothers-in-law, Charles (Betty) Greenwood and Joe (Fran) Greenwood and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Myrtle; his wife, Sharon; his son, Jason Ostman.

A special thanks to the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center and Season’s Hospice Palliative Care for the compassionate, kind, and loving care they provided Gilbert.
