Born in Chicago, IL on March 21, 1933, Fred was the son of the late William F. and Marie (Guhring) Beuttler. Fred was a graduate of Maine Township High School in Park Ridge, IL and received a football scholarship from Iowa State University. He attended the ROTC Program at Iowa State University and was active in football and wrestling.
Fred honorably served in the U.S. Army in the occupation forces in Korea from 1955 to 1957, and afterwards served in the Iowa National Guard, reaching the rank of Captain. He earned his master’s degree in vocational education at Iowa State in 1960, and completed his coursework and preliminary exams for his doctorate. He was also a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
On August 27, 1960, he married Doris Abels, and was happily married for over 55 years.
Fred began his working career at the same school that he attended first at Iowa State University as director of the inter -mural athletic program, then at Maine Township High School, where he served as teacher, coach, guidance counselor, and Dean of Students. He was a hall principal at Niles North High School and principal of St. Charles High School from 1968 to 1972. He served as assistant superintendent of Ridgewood High School District 234, in Norridge, IL, retiring from there in 1988 after sixteen years of service.
Fred was an avid golfer and he and his wife Doris retired to Crossville, TN to enjoy the beautiful golfing and retirement community. They moved to Wisconsin late in 2015 to be near their grandchildren.
Fred devoted much of his life to serving his Lord Jesus Christ in various volunteer capacities. He served as a deacon and chairman of the board for South Park Church, Park Ridge, IL, an elder and chairman for Evangelical Free Church in Crossville, TN, and as an elder for Westminster Presbyterian Church in Crossville, TN. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Gideon Ministry, and he recently attended Evangelical United Methodist Church in Racine, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; his two sons, Fred W. (Deborah) & Richard C. (Marybeth) Beuttler; his six grandchildren, Frederick, Colin, Nathan, Bethany, Hans and McKyla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David in infancy in 1968, and his brother, William R. Beuttler.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 in his hometown of Park Ridge, IL.
