Gene was a wonderful student, he was in my first class that I taught. He was a leader amongst his peers and I knew if I could win him over the rest of the kids would follow. I have never forgotten Gene and am so sorry to hear of his passing, I will be praying for his family.

So sorry for your loss. 25 years ago we built a house in Winthrop Harbor and Eugene did the leveling of our land. And 15 years later did my Mom's in Winthrop Harbor. He was a kind man.

Uncle Gene was always Soooo much fun growing up. We were sidekicks and he always made me feel loved and special as a little girl. All the memories will always be held close to my heart. I know our family will miss his laughter and the wild fun we used to have. The best thing is one day we will be together as the family God intended. NO one can change who we are...Family. My brother Stephen Ingram Byrd and I had some wonderful times as children and we will always love our uncle. Along with my brother there are great nieces and nephews in Alabama that loved their "Uncle Gene a Bug". They include Zachary (Ciera) Brown, Seth Ingram Brown, Rylea Catherine Milam, and Paxtin Abigail King. Our entire family may be miles away but our hearts ache and our loss will forever impact our lives. Rest in peace Uncle Gene you were so loved!! Thank you for leaving such a legacy of joy, laughter, and wonderful memories. You touched many peoples lives. Rebecca Lynn Byrd, Vicky Ingram Byrd's daughter
