She was born on November 15, 1937, in Clarksdale, MS and was the daughter of the late James and Rebecca (Williams) Vine. She was educated in the Mississippi school system. Ethel has lived in Kenosha since the late 1950s.
She was united in marriage to Emanuel Gholston, Jr.
Ethel was employed with AMC/Chrysler Motors and retired in 1987. Ethel was also a former member of the U.A.W. Local #72 and a current member of U.A.W. Local #72 Retirees.
Ethel was spiritually devoted to The Lord and was of Baptist faith.
Ethel enjoyed cooking, singing, sewing, and reading. After retirement she became a homemaker, devoting her time to her children, grandchildren, and loved ones who she greatly adored. Ethel was a blessing in all that she represented in life and was the family’s foundation of strength, love, and support.
She is survived by her seven children, Venier (Willie) Coleman, Michelle Gholston, Jacqueline Glass, Emanuel Gholston III, Duane Gholston, Alicia Gholston and Shalonda (Prentice) Black; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
She is further survived by her three brothers, Melvin, Robert and Richard (Jan) Vine; her sister, Rebecca Vine; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Gholston.
Service Date August 26, 2017
A Home Going Celebration honoring Ethel’s life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 3925 32nd Avenue, Kenosha. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.
