Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintElizabeth “Betty” Zapencki, age 92, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Meadowmere Assisted Living.
Born on September 29, 1922, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Viola (Unti) Iorio. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended local schools, vocational school and received her nurses aid training at Kenosha Memorial Hospital.
On June 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Valentine J. “Val” Zapencki at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children and 56 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 7, 2005.
For 25 years, Betty was employed as a nursing assistant with Kenosha Hospital. She also volunteered her time with the Shalom Center, the Salvation Army and Washington Manor Nursing Home.
Betty was a member of the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary, the Holy Rosary Women’s Altar Society, R.S.V.P. and a member of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Altar Society. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, gardening, completing jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo and watching tennis. Betty was also a fan of the Green Bay Packers and was known as the “neighborhood cookie lady”.
She will be deeply missed by her three children, Kathleen (Jerry) White, William (Lorraine) Zapencki and Christine Zapencki; a brother, Roger (Diane) Iorio; five grandchildren, Brian (Megan) and Erin White, Nicholas and Justin Zapencki and Kara (Brandon) David and a great grandson, Trey Zapencki.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Ralph and Dominick Iorio and a sister, Rose Marie Zuchowski.
Service Date April 21, 2015
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1919-54th Street. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at church for the Mass. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
