Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintOn Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Egidio “Jerry” Melito Jr., loving husband and father of two sons, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in Hudson, Florida.
Jerry was born on August 26, 1936 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Egidio and Antoinette Melito. He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Wisconsin and his MBA from Florida State University. In 1967, he married Jane Tyler in Orlando, Florida. Together they raised two sons, Philip and Steven, and lived throughout the United States, including Illinois, Florida, Colorado, Texas and abroad in Germany. Jerry retired from the United States Department of Defense in Rock Island, Illinois after 30 years of service as a civil engineer.
Jerry was a member of Saint Michael The Archangel Catholic Church and enjoyed participating with the Knights of Columbus and volunteering with the United Way of Pasco County and Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point. He loved to travel with Jane, especially to their favorite destination, Fátima, Portugal. Jerry was an avid football fan of both the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Cubs. He was known for his keen knowledge of trivia, humility and his kind and compassionate spirit.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Claude. He is survived by his wife Jane, his two sons, Philip and Steven, his brother Robert, his four grandchildren, Katherine, Julia, Anthony and Gianna and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation service will be held from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue, Kenosha, Wisconsin, 53144.
