Born on June 26, 1942 in Gailbach, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Anna (Linz) Schmid.
On March 24, 1958, Edith married her best friend, Theodore Padgett in Gailbach, Germany.
For 25 years, Edith was a Youth Minister for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and taught CCD classes there for 29 years. She also enjoyed her 20+ years as a Youth Minister for Carthage College.
She was a member of the Moose Club and enjoyed playing cards there with many friends. She enjoyed drinking Long Islands at Ron’s Place and traveling. Edith traveled all over the United States doing humanitarian work- including traveling overseas on church missions. She’s been to Africa, Israel, Germany, Europe, and Italy. Her favorite thing to do was travel with her best friends, Lucy and Butch Ebner.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Theodore; her children, Michael (Beverly) Padgett, Sr., Jeffrey Padgett, Anthony Padgett, Todd Padgett; her former daughter-in-law, Nancy Padgett; her grandchildren, Margaret (Warren) Padgett, Robert Padgett, Emily Padgett, Michael Padgett, Jr., Trever Padgett, Brandon Padgett; her great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Miedema, Skyler Padgett, Jayden Padgett, Natasha Padgett, Dario Padgett; her siblings, Isolde, Ortrud, Monika, Dieter, Ben, Kurt; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sharon McBride; her sister Imgard; her granddaughter, Alyson Padgett.
Service Date December 29, 2021
**UPDATED** A visitation for Edith will be held on Sunday, January 2nd from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Piasecki Funeral Home.
