Born on April 20, 1919, in Panther Creek, IL, she was one of nine children born to the late George and Artie (Schlieper) Howland.
On April 22, 1948, in Jacksonville, IL, Edith was united in marriage to George Colvin. They were blessed with one son and 49 years of marriage before George passed away in 1997.
Edith was a cook for various nursing homes and retired from St. Joseph’s Home in 1974.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Kenosha. Edith loved to be surrounded by family where she could show off her love of cooking and entertaining, she was always there to help when she was needed and found the greatest joy at family gatherings. In her free time, Edith also loved gardening.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Stanley G. (Pamela) Colvin; three sisters, Nellie Fisher, Lena Gress and Willean (Edward) Benz; a brother, William (Carla) Howland; a grandson, Nathaniel (Katelyn) Colvin and two great grandchildren, Julia and Kellen Colvin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Edith’s family wishes to extend a thank you to her home caregivers, the staff of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and Hospice Alliance for their care and compassion.
Service Date September 18, 2015
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha, WI. Entombment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
