Born in Kenosha on March 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Otto and Zoe (Boutan) Viroglio. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Duane attended local schools.
On December 6, 1980, he was united in marriage to Mary (Callahan) Hunt at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
For 34 years, Duane was employed in the distribution department with North Shore Gas in Waukegan, retiring in 1987.
He was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Duane never missed an opportunity to take in the view of Lake Michigan; making daily trips to the lakefront and making occasional trips to the casino. He also enjoyed gardening, was a dedicated Frank Sinatra fan but was most fond of his children and grandchildren.
Duane is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary; his daughter, Victoria (Glen Malkmus) Viroglio; three step-children, Susan (Bruce) Lash, Nancy Kuffel and David (Sini) Hunt; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Dan “D.J.” McCann), Christopher (Brieanna) Braat, Daniel Lash, Ryan Braat, Samantha and Alexander Kuffel, Matthew and Emily Hunt; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Jack (Pamela) Viroglio.
In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by his two sisters, Donna Wallig and Carmen Schoor and a step-son, Timothy Hunt.
Duane’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Alliance, Inc. and Casa Del Mare for the compassionate care they provided.
