Has been over a month now since John’s passing, time spent reflecting, remembering, missing, and loving… Last night he was in my dream…walking the hospital floors, seeing patients….talking with nurses, staff, secretaries…everyone. He lives on in our thoughts, dreams, he is a part of us

I am very sad to hear about Al's death. In all my years of teaching at Harvard he will always stand out as one of the most memorable personalities. He will be missed by many - patients, family, and friends. Al was a great asset to many. My you always remember him and be comforted by those memories.

I am still in shock by this tragedy. When I walked into the office for my appointment I was overwhelmed with sadness. I was waiting and listening just to hear your joyful joking voice. You lit up a room with your presence and knew just how to get a smile or laugh out of anyone. Your one-of-a-kind ways you had with your patients will be everlasting memories each and every one of us will cherish. Everyone wants a person like you in their life and I'm blessed to have had that experience. You will forever have a place in my heart, you are truly irreplaceable. You have touched so many lives. Mary, my children Erin, John and Mark Patrick (God Son of AJ) all knew him and appreciated his kindness and warmth. He was a trusted volunteer teacher for the Family Practice Residency at St. Catherine's Hospital. He cared for many of my patients when I moved to PA. You will be missed AJ, but I am sure you are celebrating the next life with the same enthusiasm you engaged life here on earth. Rest in Peace!

I cannot express how sad I am that John passed away. He has been the family doctor for years. From Elisabeth being his first delivery to saving my mom and fighting hard to help my dad. I could always count on a smile, kiss and hug when I saw you. Laughing at mom and her moo moo's. Thank you for all you have done for my family and myself. I cannot express what a GREAT doctor you were and how much you will be MISSED. Fly high with the angels and watch over everyone. My thoughts prayers and sympathy goes out to Julie and the kids. My deepest condolences to Dr.Capellis family and friends.. I am so saddened by his sudden passing, he was one of the best Drs I ever had and he always made my family and I feel like we mattered we weren’t just a number to him!! He had excellent bedside manners! He took care of me with 5 of my pregnancies and would tell me everything will be ok! I was so nervous having csections but as soon as he entered the OR I knew baby and I were going to be well taken care of! He was very comforting and will be missed!

In August 1993 Ted was scheduled to have gall bladder surgery. A couple of weeks prior I started having problems also and John said that I needed to go first. He came into the examining room with a surgical mask on and a scalpel in his hand and said "If I do surgery on both of you the same day I'll be in the medical journals!". Unfortunately that didn't work out but John always had a big smile on his face and was friendly to everyone. We're very grateful for having such a wonderful, caring, competent doctor all these years. Thanks so much!

AJ was a friend and a mentor. 20 yrs we’ve worked together at the Aurora Kenosha clinic. Covering OB patients and attending meetings He set at ease tense meetings with his warm Italian family jolly approach. A good man with a BIG BIG heart and a limitless acceptance who expressed the principle of going the “extra mile” for the comfort of others..... a lofty example to emulate. Shock and a deep sense of loss came over me when I heard of his passing. My tears at his solemn funeral service represented the many words I still wanted to say to him. My deepest condolences to his family and to all who were touched by his kindness.

i was so sad to hear of AJ s passing. Through the birth of 6 addicted grandchildren, he was there. always offering support. As adoption took place ,again he offered support and encouragement. As years passed he and his team provided medical and emotional support, through withdrawals to teenage rebellion. Now as the children have all entered teen years and ive grown much older. still he continued to provide a positive and emotionally uplifting hug and wisdom. He was loved and will be so terribly missed. My prayers are with you and all the family and co-workers.

The whole town is mourning with you. A few years ago I was in need of a new Dr. My sister suggested Dr AJ. He delivered my niece and all 3 of my nieces children. I asked how old he was because I didn't want a Dr to up and retire on me. Well, she must of told him because at my first appointment he walked in and said "Hi. I'm the old man". Such a wonderful, caring & truly sincere man. He will be missed.

I met Al at Harvard in 2002 when we went back to Boston for more education. Al made the classes so enjoyable. I took this photo when we visited him at his home. He will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to Julie and their kids.

The news about A.J. Reached me here in Virginia. Kenosha has lost a champion and his patients have lost a talented and caring doctor. He came to Women and Children’s Mardi Gras when he could and was a great supporter of that organization. He was a lovely soul and will be much missed. My sympathies to Julie and his children.

As shared by everyone else I will be eternally grateful to Dr. C for all his consideration, help, and comfort, When he became my doctor in the late 70s I knew he could be depended upon to attend to my family's health and welfare with warmth and concern. The halls of his building on 22nd avenue will always echo with his voice and laughter.

The sadness I feel runs deep, not only for myself but especially for John's beloved wife, Julie and his family. Fifty two years ago, John brought joy and laughter back into the life of a 15 year old girl who thought she would never feel those emotions again. For that, and for his faithful friendship through the years, I will be forever grateful. He gave so much. There will be less light in my world because he is gone.

He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. He has been my primary care physician my entire life. He was just starting his practice when my parents were looking for a doctor during my mother’s pregnency. He has taken care of most of my family for 35 years now. Walking into those offices will never be the same.

The day I found out about his passing I thought it was a rumor. This man has had me all 30 years of my life. He helped me with the birth of both of my children. He knew me better than I knew myself. Between him and his PA Mark, couldn't have asked for better. They make a great team. I hope his wife Julie and his kids cherish the man he was and live on with such love and gratitude. No one that had him as a doctor felt like a number or just another patient, you felt like family! It is so sad to know I won't see him in life but til I see you Again!

I had the privilege of having Dr. Capelli as a preceptor during one of my physician assistant clinical rotations back in 2008. Not only was he a brilliant physician, but a wonderful caring man. I was inspired by his empathy and kindness to his patients placing others above himself. His selfless generosity made a lasting impression on me. I am thankful for the opportunity to have seen a glimpse into his life. My heart goes out to his family and friends as I pray for peace to those who loved him.

You took a chance on me when others said not too. You allowed me to be me when others didn't want me to be. You heard and encouraged my voice when others wanted to quiet it. You saw my vision and and found it to be in alignment with yours. We had ADD that fit perfectly together, I got you, you got me. We debated, oh did we debate, but it was not out of wanting to be right, but that was how you challenged me to grow. And grow I did. When I fell you still held on to me, taking a leap of faith to pull me up. While it wasn't immediate, it most certainly did take hold. We were unstoppable and they knew it. They wanted to separate us and found a way to do that. For that I am sorry. I felt your frustration, but I had to try. But know, the essence of who you are at the soul level, has impacted me at a soul level. I have a passion to help those that can't help themselves and speak up for those who dont have a voice. And will move forth with my life hoping I can be a fraction of the person you were ; while hear on earth. I am grateful to have known you the way I did; taking me under your wing. Thank you again for taking a chance on me. Know I will continue to give "that person" a chance in honor of you. Will forever miss you...until we meet again on the other side... Love you my friend. To the Capelli family Sending you love and prayers during this difficult time....I am very sad about Johns passing.....he was my doctor since I was a kid and a damn good doctor.....I was his "problem child" as he used to say jokingly but he always took extra of me and for I will always remember his kind heart and compassion....he would always make sure to give me a hug everytime I came to see him no matter what kind of mood he was in....so sad to lose such an awesome doctor the community is grieving and saddened by his loss....again sending you lots of love and prayers your way and heaven gained an angel....RIP DR CAPELLI we will miss you.....PS say HI to my late hubby George for me...

I was deeply saddened this morning when I checked facebook and saw that Dr. A J Capelli had passed. In 2009, I was a new nurse. I didn't broadcast that to the physicians because I had been told not to by many nurses. One day he heard me shish another nurse about my being a new nurse. Needless to say for about the first year of my career whenever I had one of his patients and I was wasn't busy he would take me into the patient's room so I could learn. He was a great teacher. I will carry the many fond memories of Dr. Capelli all the days of my life. My heart goes out to his family.

Dr. Capelli was among the best mentors I will ever have. He taught me the importance of levity in medicine, and that knowing and caring deeply for patients is the best medicine that a doctor can provide. Dr. Capelli sounds like an absolutely lovely man...although I didn't know him, I remember his father, who had a grocery store on 22nd Ave. back in the late 50's...I woud get penny candy there...his dad Al was kind to our family who let us buy groceries on "time", when my dad was unemployed. I'm not surprised that his son, Dr. Al Capelli was such a wonderful man. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.

To A.J.'s surviving family, if I am this saddened by the sudden loss of this great man, I can only imagine how compounded your pain is and I send you my sincerest of condolences. I cant even process this right now. I'm in denial. He delivered me, at great odds, 33+ years ago. He delivered my son 9 weeks ago. I myself hardly ever saw him when I had a reason to visit the office but when I did, man, what a treat. He never wanted to talk about medical stuff, he always just wanted to catch up on my personal life and really just shoot the sh*t until a brief chat about my health at the end of the convo. No man has ever made me laugh as hard as he did. He made the birth of my first born calm, happy, and was always there to offer me the option to remain involved in steps along the way, which I always took him up on. He complimented my wife and I on how strong our relationship appeared to be. When it was determined the my wife needed a C-section, he made us feel calm going in because we wanted to avoid that if at all possible. When I started to cry when I heard my boy cry for the first time, I think it touched him deeply because he came over, gave me a big hug and said "This doesn't happen with new parents much anymore. It just means that you guys are doing this for the right reasons." Anyway, that's how he touched our lives. I am forever grateful to this man. He was proof that one person can make a big difference in the lives of others, even if they are only truly devoted to you for short moments at a time.

Dear Julie and all the kids, I am so sorry and shocked to hear of Al's passing. He was always a special person who truly loved life and actually was bigger than life itself. When Al came into a room, everyone noticed and those that knew him flocked to be with him. He was a very giving man who put others before him at all times. Julie and kids and all of the family! John was not only my Doctor, he was a good friend of the Principe,Weidner family. He took good care of my Aunt Tony and Jenny Principe, and delivered both of my kids Alexander, and Nicollette Chase. He always gave me a kiss when I came in to be seen, stopped what he was doing to pop in to say hi. I will never forget when my daughter was breached and he was so mad that I wanted a C-section instead of him going and turning her lol he brought me pizza after both deliveries and sat and ate with us. I loved him and will miss him. My prayers are with all of you, it's a big loss for Kenosha and his loved ones. God has brought him to heaven for a reason, I'm sure he will be watching over everyone.

Julie. I'm speechless! There are no words that come close to describing the heaviness in my heart. You know what John has meant to me through the years. From the moment he wooshed into that ER room 34 years ago, and all moments since!! He quickly became a part of my life, and eventually my children. He comforted me during many tough times life threw my way, sometimes without even knowing so. He is one of the greats for sure. I can't believe I will never see his smiling face again. Dr. A.J. Was a special friend to my father, Robert Ungemach, both through Rotary and dad’s service station, but especially when dad was seriously ill. He impressed me when he visited during that time as a friend. He was such a loving person. My sympathies to his loved ones.

So in shock. Such a wonderful human being. Was his patient when he was 1st working in his brother's Paul office. Because of insurance restrictions we had to come & go over the years. Many years ago a young physician gave my mother a new chance at life. She had suffered a major stroke and coded for a long period of time. He and his new partner put endless hours into what seemed to be a very slim chance. Due to the endless hours of dedication my mother lived to see the majority of her grandchildren born. I learned of his untimely passing. They broke the mold after he became a Dr. RIP Dr. AJ I hope you knew how much our family appreciated you. My prayers are with your family. My deepest condolences to the family. My PRAYERS to comfort you through these difficult times. Where do I begin to explain how Special Dr. Capelli is to me and our family. I had the privilege to work at his practice for over 12 years. He delivered 3 of my children and almost all of my niece's and nephew's which are over 13 kids. He also was our primary Dr. for almost all of my family & extended family members. A Loving man whom always greeted you with a bear hug full of Love. It was a great honor to work with him in our hispanic community in which he treated each one with caring heart and gave them peace to be able to communicate in their own language. Becoming a patient of Dr. Capelli was the best thing that could have happened to me. There are no words to describe the devastating loss. His smile, warmth and compassion will be missed. My condolences go out to the Capelli family in this time of mourning of the departure of a loved one. Dr. AJ was one of the first physicians that I coded for when I joined Aurora. He loved to talk and he had a great bedside manner for his patients. I’m truly saddened by his departure, and I’ll always remember his long discussions about insurance companies.

My heart is broken. He has been my Dr. since he started. Was the best Dr. ever. Loved him! Deepest sympathies to all the family and staff. Hope you find peace in all he has done for so many people.

Not only did John assist in delivering me 31 years ago but he delivered all 3 of my children. You will be greatly missed.

Dr. Capelli was my doctor when I lived in Paddock Lake. He was my favorite doctor I had since moving back to Wisconsin in 1980. I moved from Paddock Lake to Racine in the early 90's. I haven't had a doctor as caring as he was. Finding a good doctor now a days is hard. Especially one that is willing to listen and take their time. He will be missed by many. May you rest in peace.

Jules, my sincerest condolences to you and your family in this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Cherish the memories as I know I will do. There are so many great ones. Julie & family, Those we love don’t go away, they walk besides us, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Thinking of you all at this difficult time, and wishing you comfort and peace. AJ provided us with many laughs while working together at St. Catherine's and of course, Aurora. So sorry to hear of his passing...my condolences to his family, he was a very kind, funny man! I had the privilege of working with him during my nursing school clinicals, no matter what time of the night he got called in, he always smiled and offered a friendly hello! May he RIP

Where do I begin? My heart is so heavy right now. I cry as I’m typing. AJ you were the best doctor a patient could ever have. You energy at every appointment and all three childbirth was phenomenal. It hurts me so bad. I just seen you a few weeks and you were in good spirits. Man I tell you the good dies young. I’m sure you lived a wonderful life. I’m definitely praying for your family. My family and I were very sad to hear the news. He was a wonderful person and a fantastic physician. He was adored by my mother and she looked forward to her visits with him the last few years of her life. I thank Julie for referring me to him when I needed a new doctor for mom and one who was fluent in Spanish. We were all blessed to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I was very saddened to hear of the untimely death of AJ. I have worked with him in the past on the Aurora Medical Group board and found him to be a very charming, gregarious, and generous man dedicated to his career and community. My prayers are with his family.

My prayers and warm thoughts go out to Dr. John’s wife, family, friends and all the hearts he touched along the way. He truly was a remarkable doctor. I believe my nephew was one of his first babies to deliver. He also has been my parent’s doctor from that time on. I will always remember Dr. John’s kindness with my parents and the time he visited my dad at home before he passed away years ago. Heaven gained a special angel. Godspeed Dr. John.

My heart truly hurts to hear the loss of Dr.Capelli. He was an extraordinarily beautiful person. He has been my doctor and my sons doctor and we have grown very close to each other. I will miss his bear hugs and his gently kisses on my foreheading comforting me when my son was sick. He was my biggest supporter through my newly motherhood journey and I am truly at a lost for words. He has become family. My heart goes out to his family as he spoke about you all ALL the time. He truly shows what love between doctors and patients should feel like. I will miss you so much

Words cannot describe how I feel at the loss of AJ. I have been a patient of his since 1986, my parents 198, when it was just him & Julie. There will never another Dr. that can ever take his place, with his caring and comforting, and passionate attitude to his patients, his contributions to the town he represented so well. Words are not enough to express my feelings at this time. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time and beyond. May God be with you at this trying time. He will be so missed!
