Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintDouglas A. Moore, Sr., age 66 of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, in Wauwatosa, WI, after a short intense battle with cancer.
Born in Rockford, IL on March 12, 1950, he was the son of the late Homer B. and Annie May (Jeter) Moore.
From January 12, 1972 until his honorable discharge on June 4, 1975, Douglas served in the U.S. Army. He entered the service in Chicago, IL and was stationed at Fort Knox, KY. He proudly received the National Defense Service Medal.
On August 27, 1990 in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Patricia J. Szymanski.
For 35 years he was employed as an Executive Administrator with the North Chicago VA Hospital.
Douglas was an avid golfer and a enthusiastic Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs fan. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, relaxing and spending time with family.
He was a devout Christian and his strong faith carried him through tough times.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Moore and his five children, Douglas (April) Schaefer, Douglas Moore Jr., Matthew (Alicia) Rommelfanger, Nicholas Moore and Gabrielle Moore. Douglas is further survived by his siblings; Homer Moore Jr., Nancy Hawthorne, Jean Moore, James Moore, John Moore, Shirley Waller, Joseph (Sonny) Moore, Mary Moore, Wendy Moore, and Mark Williams; a host of other relatives and close friends.
Service Date November 12, 2016
Funeral Services honoring Douglas’ life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Full military honors will follow the service. Private interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
