Born on December 25, 1942, in Chicago, IL she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Agnes M. (Verrington) Holzgethan. She attended local schools and graduated from Mother of Sorrows High School and College of Lake County with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
Donna was employed as a Registered Nurse at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL.
She loved wildlife and helping animals, all of her pets were rescue animals. Donna supported many animal organizations. She was always trying something new in her garden. Donna was very artistic, she enjoyed restoring old things and made them look like they were new again.
Donna is survived by her children, Lisa (Craig) Copes and Tony (Renee) DeVito; her grandchildren, Erykah (Matthew) Buck, Carlo Benitez, Vanesa (Brandon) Buhler, Anthony DeVito and Andrew DeVito; her 10 great grandchildren and her sister, Carol Holt.
Along with her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her granddaughter, AnneMarie DeVito and her brother, Joseph Holzgethan.
A gathering for the immediate family will be held privately.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the caregivers and healthcare professionals at The Addison and Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances can be made to the Safe Harbor Humane Society, 7811 60th Ave., Kenosha, WI, 53142, would be appreciated by the family.
