Deloris A. Brnak, age 87 of Kenosha, died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at United Hospital System – Kenosha Campus, following a brief illness.
Born in Kenosha on January 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Catherine A. (Simon) Brehm. She attended Grant Elementary, St .George Elementary, Washington Jr. High and Kenosha High Schools.
On April 22, 1950 at St. George Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Paul Brnak, Sr. Sadly after nearly 48 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on January 24, 1998.
Deloris was employed as Chief Deputy Kenosha County Treasurer, retiring in 1991. Previously, she was employed as the Treasurer of Kenosha County AFSCME Union. She also worked at the Chocolate Shop, Simmons Company, Libby McNeil & Libby, Nash Motors, MacWhyte Wire Rope Company and Manpower.
Deloris was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the former St. George Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic Women’s Club and the Kenosha Senior Center.
She volunteered her time with the Women’s Health Initiative Research since 1993, the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, Kenosha Public Museum and the Kenosha Public Library.
Deloris enjoyed playing cards, Sudoku, reading, gardening, swimming, genealogy, writing family stories and loved family get-togethers.
She is survived by her four daughters, Deborah (Bruce) Brnak-Baumann of Milwaukee, Theresa (Mick) Heberling of Big Bend, Nancy (Frank) Cerminara and Kim (Nick) Farfalla, both of Kenosha; her two sons, Paul Brnak of Kenosha and Jeffrey (Renee) Brnak of Wind Lake; and her stepdaughter, Sharon (Don) Pinno of Fond Du Lac. She is further survived by her eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and her very dear friend, Izzy Borgi.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy (Catherine) and Alwin (Janet) Brehm; her two sisters, Clarissa (Merl) Cotton and Petronilla (Harry) Paskiewicz; and her grandson, Erik Heberling.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the C.C.U. staff at Kenosha Hospital for the excellent care and compassion they provided.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. from the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4817 7th Avenue. Private inurnment will take place in St. George Cemetery.
