Born in Kenosha, on March 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Rygajlo) Gapanowicz.
Delores attended local schools, graduated from Bradford High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dominican College and Carthage College.
She was a classroom elementary teacher for over 25 years, mainly with Kenosha Unified retiring in 1991. Delores did spend 2 years, 1960-1962, in Uganda, East Africa- teaching literature and art to high school girls for the Verona Fathers Mission and published 3 books. She was a member of the Wisconsin and Kenosha Retired Teachers Association.
Delores will be truly missed and remembered by her loving nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bertha Nissen, Genevieve Wierzbicki, Angeline Gapanowicz and John Gapanowicz.
Service Date June 16, 2017
A funeral service for Delores will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Ave., Kenosha. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery.
