He was born on June 25, 1945 in Eau Claire, WI, and was the son of the late Henry and Esther (Wolfgang) Zillmer.
David grew up in Augusta, WI and worked hard to help raise his four sisters after his father’s passing. He moved to Silver Lake and married his first wife, where they raised their two children and then their marriage dissolved.
David met the love of his life Carol Langnes and they were united in marriage on June 19, 1991. They were blessed to have a blended family with the addition of Carol’s two children.
He worked at Chrysler and after 35 years he retired in June of 2001. David also dedicated 44 years to the Silver Lake Fire Department and served as Chief of the fire department for 13 years.
David had many passions in life. He was a stock car enthusiast and built his own stock car in his garage. He took his “Z3” stock car and won several checkered flags throughout Wisconsin. In his spare time, David enjoying scooping the loop around Silver Lake, tinkering in his garage, boating on Silver Lake and went on several four wheeling trips with his family and friends. He loved deer hunting and riding his tractor on “the 80” acres of land he purchased outside of Fairchild, WI. He also enjoyed the many water fights he participated in with the Silver Lake Fire Department throughout the years. David was an avid Packers fan and as a season ticket holder, rarely did he miss the opportunity to watch a game and never did he turn down a cold beer. Those that knew Dave, knew he indeed was….. “SUPER DAVE”.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol Zillmer; his four children, Debbie (Jeff) Meyers of Brighton, Thomas (Traci) Zillmer of Oak Creek, Kristin Luciani of Tucson, AZ and Rachel (Jonah) Hetland of Silver Lake; his seven grandchildren, Kyle, Brianna (Kyle), Morgan (Aric), Shawn, Caden, Ava and Tori; his great grandson, Tyler; his two sisters, Betty Lou Larson and Jane Whiteaker and his former wife Bettie Brandes.
