Born November 3, 1922 in Muskogee, OK, this bundle of joy was born to the late Cornelius Garfield Fowler, Sr. and Maggie Louise (Patton) Fowler. He received his education in Muskogee, OK and graduated from Manuel Training High School at the age of 15 years old.
Cornelius continued his education at Texas College in Tyler, TX, where he was a member of Omega PSI PHI Fraternity. He furthered his education in CA and graduated at the age of 19 years old. He received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Biology at Langston University. He was a proud recipient of a Lifetime Mathematics Certificate.
On April 8, 1950, in Tulsa, OK he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Wilma Jean Robinson. They lived a wonderful love story for 49 years, until her death in June, 1999.
Cornelius began his teaching career in Pawhuska, OK where he taught mathematics and directed their Marching Band. In 1943, he relocated to Ponca City, OK where he was employed with Attucks Schools, teaching mathematics and was director of their Marching Band Director. With Cornelius’ dedication and help, the band won many first place competitions.
Cornelius moved from Ponca City, OK to Tulsa, OK where he taught for many years in Sand Springs, OK. It was during this time that he intermittently played his trumpet with various Big Bands. He played Swing Music with great legends such as Count Basie and many others traveling with the Chitlin Circuit.
Cornelius’ final relocation was to Kenosha where he taught math, computer science, chemistry, biology and geometry at Tremper High School, retiring in 1997. He was a proud recipient of an award for introducing computers to the school. On a part time basis, he also wrote computer programs for American Motors Corporation.

He was a faithful member of Coleman Chapel AME Church where he served as Steward, Trustee, and was a member of their Senior Men’s Choir, and was the music band director until his death. For many years, Cornelius taught musical instruments to anyone in the community who was interested in playing an instrument in the church orchestra. For those who were unable to obtain their own instrument, Cornelius always made sure they had one to practice on.
He was a member of the Ethic Elders, Omega PSI PHI Fraternity, and was an active member until his death of the Lions Club of Greater Kenosha where he had served as President for one year.
Cornelius loved playing and listening to music of all kinds, watching Westerns and old movies. Most of all his lifetime love was his model trains, and model cars.
