Born in Kenosha on February 7th, 1988, he was the son of Keith R. Johnson and Judith (Borchardt) Johnson. He attended Jeffrey Elementary School, Lance Jr. High School, and graduated from Tremper High School in 2006. While at Tremper, Corey was a contributing member on the Men’s Varsity Soccer Team. Corey was currently studying at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, TX.
Corey made the most selfless decision to join our Country’s Military following High School. He served a 15 month tour in Iraq, achieving numerous accolades; including the rank of Corporal, by the end of his service. Corey was honorably discharged in 2010; he was a proud member of A Co, 2nd Plt (Bad Boys) 1-27IN, 2nd BCT, 25th Infantry Division.
Corey will be remembered by his witty humor, uncanny ability to charm everyone in his presence (some might say by “schmoozing,”) his infectious smile, and for always putting others before himself; ultimately leading to his decision to serve our country. He loved his family and friends unconditionally, and he would do anything to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Corey is survived by his parents, Keith and Judy; his brothers, Matt and Erik Johnson; his sisters, Kelsey (James) Swan and Dana Johnson; his beloved niece, Kayleigh; his uncles, Roger and Ben Johnson, Father Edgar Borchardt, Russell (Mary) Borchardt; and his constant canine companion, Josie. He is further survived by a countless number of family and friends who all loved him dearly. Corey was a hero to us all.
Corey is preceded in death by his grandparents and Uncle Robert Borchardt.
