Born in Ontario, WI on September 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Ardella (Waldon) Roberts. She was a 1955 graduate of Ithaca High School in Richland Center, WI. After graduation, she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, WI for five years. Cleo moved to Kenosha in 1961 and continued her education to receive her CNA Degree from Gateway Technical College.
On February 5, 1961 at United Methodist Church in West Lima, WI, she was united in marriage to Orville Slagle. Cleo enjoyed her role as a homemaker and mother.
Cleo began her nursing career as a trainer of nurses’ aides at Washington Manor Nursing Home. She retired as a floor nurse. Prior to Washington Manor she worked off and on at AMC.
She was a member of the U.A.W. Local #72 Retirees. Cleo was an avid fisherman and traveled extensively. She enjoyed the many places she visited.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Orville Slagle; her children, Gary (Jamie) Slagle, Cheryl Mitchell, Orville (Barb) Slagle, Jr. and Laura (John) Gitzlaff; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Avery Roberts; her sister, Genevieve Reko; and her son-in-law, Ronnie Mitchell.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Faith and Diana at Hospice Alliance, Inc., for exceptional love and care they provided to Cleo.
In accordance with Cleo’s wishes, private funeral services were held. Interment took place in Oakwood Cemetery.
