Born in Leuven, Belgium on February 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late P. Maurice and Philomene (Elli) Smets.
She met the love of her life, Joseph Santoro in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They were united in marriage on June 25, 1960. For 40 years, they made Wheeling, IL their home. After Joseph’s passing in 2001, Christine moved to Kenosha.
She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed sewing, knitting and needle point. Christine was the happiest being a wonderful devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Rose (Mike) Grandt, Anita Santoro, Cathy DuPont and David (Gillian) Santoro; her grandchildren, Joshua and Adam Grandt and Nicholas, Ryane and Gianna Santoro; and her sister, Yvonne Peters of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tyler DuPont.
Service Date April 14, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Christine’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Avenue. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
