Born May 24, 1933, in Laurium, MI, he was the son of Raymond and Lucille (DeMars) Jeffery. Chet attended school in Oceola and Hancock, MI, graduating high school in 1950.
He joined the Naval Reserve in 1950 serving with the SeaBee’s Naval Construction Battalion during the Korean conflict and was released from active duty in 1953. Chet continued his service to our country in the Naval Reserve SeaBee Division 9-46 and RMCB 25 in Great Lakes, IL until 1981.
In March of 1953, Chet moved to Kenosha and met the love of his life, Muriel J. Shaw. They later married on September 15, 1956 at Bethany Lutheran Church.
Chet was a hardworking man employed by Abbott Laboratories, Kenosha Motor Coach, American Motors, Kranz Paper Company and as a truck driver for Schultz-Sav-O-Stores, retiring in 1991. After retirement he continued to work as a bartender at the Kenosha Moose Lodge #286 and V.F.W. Post 1865 and as a skip driver for the Kenosha News.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for many years. Chet was also a member of the Teamsters Local 43 in Racine and the V.F.W. Post #1865.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Muriel of Kenosha; five children, Chester D. of Matthews, NC, Debra (Tom) Vieth of Kenosha, Roger (Rachelle) of Hilton Head Island, SC, Shari (Nick) Perrine of Kenosha and Susan Leissner of Kenosha. He is further survived by ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Service Date March 4, 2016
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2100 75th Street. Interment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
