Char entered this world on March 9, 1939, in Kenosha, WI, to Leroy and Margaret Peachey, and left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She peacefully transitioned on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha, WI.
Char was raised in Kenosha, graduated from Bradford High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse. After graduation, she embarked on her journey as an educator in Douglas, Arizona, later returning to Kenosha, where she was called to share her knowledge of physical education with the students at St. Joseph High School, and Washington, Lincoln, and Bullen Junior High Schools.
Char’s zest for life knew no bounds, as evidenced by her love for travel. She explored all 50 of the United States, traveled to beautiful destinations like Aruba, Mexico, and even ventured to Europe for two unforgettable summers. Throughout her journey, Charlene found happiness in the company of her wife, Jana, with whom she shared a passion for golf and profound companionship. Together, they found joy in the simple moments and cherished their adventures near and far.
A devoted educator, Char’s impact extended beyond the classroom, where she nurtured young minds in the Kenosha Unified School District and her home congregation at Bradford Community Church UU. Char’s commitment to raising and training therapy dogs reflected her compassionate nature and unwavering desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
An avid reader, skilled card player, and cherished friend, Char brought light and laughter wherever she went. Her quick wit and wicked sense of humor endeared her to all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Embracing her love for music, Char attended unforgettable concerts by icons such as Tina Turner and Cher, reveling in the magic of live performances that stirred her soul.
Beyond her professional achievements, Char’s legacy as a mentor resonates deeply in the hearts of the Kenosha community, where she guided and inspired countless young individuals. Her generous spirit and loyalty to her friends and family knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend.
