Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, on August 16, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Lorraine Ters. She attended schools in Westwood, New Jersey, and was a 1966 graduate of Westwood High School. After high school, Carolyn attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Montclair, New Jersey.
On June 20, 1977, at First Lutheran Church in Minot, N.D., she was united in marriage to Greg D. Rismoen. She was a devoted wife; they were blessed with one daughter, Jennifer, and 38 years of marriage.
Carolyn settled down with Greg in Stockholm, N.J., in 1977 and worked for Pan Am Airlines in New York City. Later, her husband Greg’s employment with SPEBSQSA/Barbershop Harmony Society brought her and her family to Kenosha, where she worked as at the Kenosha Water Utility until her retirement in 2014.
She was known as a kind and loving woman that had the most positive outlook on life even during difficult times. Bringing with her a beautiful smile, she was the first to share a laugh at any joke. Always an amazing friend, Carolyn would give the shirt off her back in a moment’s notice. She gave generously to St Mary’s Lutheran Church, PEO, and Sons of Norway and always enjoyed games of Mahjong and socializing at Kenosha Senior Dining.
Carolyn will always be remembered by her loving daughter, Jennifer Roth (husband, Tom); her sister, Lois Trivisone (Louie); four sisters-in-law, Sally Yoakum, Paula (Dan) Foley, Pama Rismoen and Peri (Jim) Goad, numerous cousins, and her faithful cat, Kit Cat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Greg.
Service Date July 8, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Carolyn’s life will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Lutheran Church, 2001 80th Street. Private interment will be held in Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
