Born in Caledonia, WI on August 30, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Norbert & Helen (Maller) Braun.
On May 29, 1954 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia, Carol married the love of her life, Albert Kovacevich. Together they raised four devoted children. After raising her family, Carol attended UW Parkside to achieve her teaching degree. She then went on to pursue her dream career as a 3rd grade teacher at St. Therese School.
Her life was filled with excitement, challenges, laughter, and most of all love. Carol was a passionate seamstress, sewing her children’s clothes throughout their early years to making Halloween and Christmas outfits for her grandchildren. Wearing homemade clothes wasn’t appreciated then, but now her children look back on those clothes with fond memories. Being the resourceful and creative person she was, Carol even sewed her girls Barbie Doll clothes. Her talents became so appreciated, soon her children began putting in their orders for anything from prom dresses, draperies, bedding and even custom cushions for outdoor furniture. No sewing project scared Carol, they all became a challenge and she never disappointed.
Being raised on a farm, Carol quickly acquired her love for cooking. She made everything from scratch and truly could have been a master chef! The Kovacevich house was a favorite place at dinner time for neighbors and friends. In fact, we lived with an open-door policy and our house was “the” house to hang out at.
Upon retirement Carol & Al loved to travel. Road trips were their favorite adventure. Making the trek across country to Arizona was an annual venture; changing the route every time to see as many National Parks as possible. Other trips included Disney World, The Redwood Forest, South Dakota, New York, Niagara Falls and many others. Spending time on the road and traveling out west was something that Carol and Al really enjoyed doing together.
Survivors include her four children, Karen (Bruce) Laken of Kenosha, WI, Joseph (Laura) Kovacevich of Holmen, WI, Debra (DeWayne) Adamson of Scottsdale, AZ and Steven Kovacevich of Mindoro, WI; seven grandchildren; Eric, Justin (Jocelyn), Aubrey, Tori, Jessica, Brianna and Hannah along with 2 great grandchildren, Levi & Lucas.
Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; two brothers, Gene and Donald Braun and her sister, Jeanette Niznansky.
