Carmella was born in Kenosha on August 20, 1918 to the late Arturo and Carmela (Constanti) Piccolo.
Carmella was united in marriage to David B. Willems on August 23, 1941 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. After 71 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on July 2, 2013.
A lifetime resident of Kenosha, Carmella graduated from Kenosha High School. Besides being a homemaker and mother to her four children, she held various jobs throughout her life. She worked as a waitress in several area restaurants and in retail sales. During WWII she worked at The Frost Company making grenades. She was also employed by Chrysler/ American Motors, taught various exercise classes, worked as a meat cutter at the Model Marker and picked produce at local farms. Carmella was very dedicated to her Christian faith and had a strong belief in our Lord. She greatly enjoyed participating in prayer groups and bible study.
Carmella is survived by her children, David (Ann) Willems, Ed (Kathy) Willems, Louise (Chuck) Feest, and Jean Glaves; six grandchildren, Julie, Kristine, Jeff, Sarah, Michael, and Kelly; eight great-grandchildren, Julianna, Jada, Joshua, Brayden, Hunter, Trystan, Dylan, and Harley; and a sister, Rose Birkholz. Besides her husband and parents, Carmella was preceded in death by her son-in- law, Alfie Glaves and siblings, Alex, Arthur, Yolanda, Mary, and Lena.
Funeral Services honoring Carmella’s life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1919 54th Street. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saint’s Mausoleum. A visitation for Carmella will be held at the Piasecki- Althaus Funeral home on Wednesday, October 17th from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00p.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zeihen, Brookside Care Center, and their staff for the excellent care given to Carmella.
