Born in Kenosha on May 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Mae (Harper) Wermske. She was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
On September 5, 1959 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Eugene J. Covelli, Sr. They were blessed with three children and 57 years of marriage. Sadly, Eugene preceded her in death on March 11, 2017.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Betty loved being a homemaker and she devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, fishing, gardening and taking great pride in her beautiful and meticulous yard.
She is survived by her loving children, Eugene Covelli, Jr., Theresa (Steve) Swisher and Tammy Covelli; her eight grandchildren, Joshua (Gretchen) Covelli, Jacob Swisher, Bethany Swisher, Zachary Swisher, Nicholas Koslica, Eugene Covelli, III, Ashley McCumber and Cecelia McCumber and ten great grandchildren, Nadia, Nico, Nash, Caleb, Atali, Aubrei, Gianna, Jayden, Jeremiah and Brielle.
Betty is further survived by her brother, John (Donna) Wermske; two sisters, Linda (Don) Wright and Gertrude (Ted) Gianakos; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wermske; and two sisters, Wilma Monnot and Donna Coleman.
Service Date September 18, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Betty’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Entombment will take place on Wednesday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. in All Saints Mausoleum.
