Born on November 10, 1939 in Little Rock AK; she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Mary (Brown) Jennings. She attended local schools and graduated from Dunbar High School of Little Rock. Bessie moved to Kansas City, MO and made Kenosha her home in 1968.
Bessie worked at the American Fiber Envelope Company and after 20 years of service, retired in 1994.She attended Gateway Technical College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was a member of the Marina Shores Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Bessie liked to be out shopping and loved cooking. She enjoyed traveling and talking; catching up with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bessie is survived by her children, David L. Hunter, Jr. of IN, Reginald J. Hunter of Racine, Mary A. (Eric) Hunter Dogans of Racine and Beth L. Gooden of Italy; 18 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diedra M. Hunter and a son Stephen L. Hunter and her two sisters, Gloria “Sue” Smith and Rose Marie Miller.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
