Born on July 3, 1921, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Andrew and Jeanette “Netty” (Parker) Christensen. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Arleigh attended local schools.
On December 31, 1942, he was united in marriage to Betty Walterhouse. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage and two sons before she preceded him in death on December 30, 1998.
Arleigh proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Force from September 11, 1942 until his honorable discharge on October 11, 1945.
For over 35 years, he was employed with Peter Ploskee Construction until its closing. His last years of employment before he retired, was spent working at the Pleasant Prairie Power Plant.
Arleigh was a member of the Local #113 Laborers Union, where he served as past Vice President and Trustee, the 352nd Fighter Group and the National Monte Carlo Owners Association. He enjoyed camping in his motor home and fishing.
He will be missed by his son, Dennis (Kay) Christensen; two grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) and Karen Christensen and a great granddaughter, Natalie.
In addition to his parents and wife, Arleigh was preceded in death by his son, Brian; four brothers, Drew and Roger Christensen and Lyle and Hugh Milligan and a sister, Annette Parsons.
In accordance with Arleigh’s wishes, private funeral services will be held. Interment will be held in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
