Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintAnn Basten Krogh, age 92, long time resident of Kenosha, died peacefully on August 20, 2015, under the care of Presence Hospice at St Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL after a short illness. For the past 13 years, she resided in St Charles, IL to be near family.
She was born on December 5, 1922 in Holland (the Netherlands), to the late William and Johanna (Verheyn) Basten. Ann was named after her paternal grandmother.
Ann attended St Mary’s Catholic School and then took Home Economics courses at Kenosha Technical Institute. While growing up, Ann helped her mother with boarders in their east side Kenosha home to make ends meet during and after the Great Depression. During the war she worked at the American Motors Defense plant wiring radios and later as a seamstress in a department store.
On November 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Charles Edward Krogh at St. Mary Catholic Church. She was happily married to Charles for over 70 years until he passed away on May 4, 2012.
Ann was a gifted oil painter, Bridge player and ceramics hobbyist. She raised her daughters in a home that she and Chuck designed and built. She loved to visit her adult daughters and hold her five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Charleen A. Miller of St Charles, IL and Sandra L. Camponeschi of Batavia, IL; five grandchildren, Andrea Hudon, Pamela Zuiker, Brian Miller, Alan Camponeschi, and Erin Brotherson; twelve great grandchildren; her older brother, Albert Basten and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her younger brothers, George in infancy and George, and many dear Kenosha and Waukegan friends.
Service Date August 26, 2015
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 12 Noon in All Saints Mausoleum Chapel, 3300 Springbrook Road, Pleasant Prairie. Entombment will follow.
