Alice was born in Bristol on June 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Pagel) Krahn. She was the third of eight children raised on the family farm in Bristol. She was educated in a one room classroom for all eight grades.
On June 19, 1938, she was united in marriage to Robert “Red” Leonard. After 37 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on June 29, 1975.
Alice was a member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church and Friedens Ladies Aid.
Her favorite past time was crocheting doilies and embroidering pillowcases as gifts for her family and friends. She finished her last project; quilt squares, in January.
Alice is survived by her four children, Donna (Dale) Coolidge, Judith Pulera, Linda (Richard) Bartel and Dennis Leonard; her thirteen grandchildren, Edward (Gina) Beaudry, who she lived with for the past 21 years, Elizabeth Clifton, Deena (Mark) Johnson, Mary Berg, Alice (Louis) Aulozzi, Debra ((Tracy Schweitzer) Bartel, Barbara Bartel, Joseph (Traci) Pulera, Bradley (Michelle) Pulera, Dawn Mitten, Anna (Jim) Ukkonen, Robert Pulera and Danielle Leonard; her great-grandchildren, Connie Beaudry, Vijay (Ashley) Rampal, Louis (Mayte Lopez) Aulozzi IV, Samantha Aulozzi, Brandon (Abi Zarling) Eschbach, Greg, Tori, Timmy and Sammy Pulera, Elizabeth and Alex Young, Ashley and Adam Berg, Travis, Amber and Misty Ukkonen, and Stormy Clifton; and her great-great grandchildren, Landon and Mikaela Mathis and Hailey Christensen.
She is further survived by her two brothers, Roy (Leona) and Richard (Bethel) Krahn; and special friends, Paul, Sr., Mindy, Paul, Jr., Emma and Natalie Otto and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene (Delores), Fred (Audenta), Leo (Ethel) and Lyle (Doris) Krahn; her sister, Eunice Burmeister; a great granddaughter, Katie Mathis on April 28, 2013; a son-in-law, Samuel L. Pulera and a daughter-in-law, Denise Leonard.
Service Date March 11, 2017
Funeral Services honoring Alice’s life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5038-19th Avenue. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
