Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintAlfred Eugene Speca passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024 at the age of 95 at his home and birthplace, Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Alfred is survived by his sister, Teresa Speca Mitchell (Francis Mitchell deceased); nephew, James Mitchell (Beth); niece, Karen Mitchell (Rob Chodock); and great nephews, Timothy Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell and Hudson Chodock. He was predecased by his father, Dante Speca; mother, Emilia Mazzei Speca; brother, John Speca; and sisters, Theresa and Mary Jane Speca.
Alfred faithfully served his country in the navy during the Korean War as Aviation Machinist Mate Petty Officer 2nd Class. Alfred served from 1949 – 1953 part of VF 111 Task Force 77 – 7th Fleet, Air Group 11 – Air Task Group One. Notable vessels he served on were the USS Philippine Sea, the USS Valley Forge and the USS Boxer.
He received the Korean Service Medal with three stars, the United Nations Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal. Alfred was honored by initiation into the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon on July 26, 1950 aboard the USS Philippine Sea.
He attended Mary D. Bradford High School and Spartan School of Aeronautics. As a youth, he played trumpet in the Kenosha C.Y.O. Band. he was an aircraft engine and service mechanic for American Airlines, a painter hobbyist and sailboat enthusiast. He designed and custom built a 27-foot sailboat in 1958 named Fin. Alfred then continued crafting boat models and drawings of sailboats until his passing.

The family is planning a private graveside service at St. George Cemetery in Kenosha with Military Honors later this month.
