Wisconsin is considered a 100% burial trust/insurance state, meaning that 100% of the funds you pay toward your funeral, legally have to be placed in a trust fund, CD, insurance policy or other investment option, to protect your assets. That way, you’re assured the funds will be there to cover any and all expenses when needed. 

There are a number of government supported programs and many private options available to you, such as preneed insurance. Meeting with one of our directors beforehand can help clarify them all. Our directors will guide you through these choices, ensuring you fully understand each option. You can also consult with your attorney to explain all your options and to set up funds.

As detailed in #7 above, since Wisconsin is a 100% state, your funds are protected even if the funeral home you choose goes out of business. In such an event, transferring your funds to a new funeral home is a straightforward process, and the new provider will strive to honor your original plan as closely as possible.

If you wish to change funeral homes before your passing, simply contact the original funeral home to request your file. Should you encounter any difficulties, representatives from your new funeral home can assist in obtaining the funds on your behalf.
